England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the this year's Young Athlete of the Year award.

These three athletes have been celebrated for their exceptional achievements over the previous year.

Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the very first time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a unprecedented innings.

Littler claimed this honour in 2024 after his sensational debut year.

The three contenders were announced live on a national radio breakfast show.

The 2025 recipient will be announced during a live broadcast on the Sports Personality of the Year show on December 18th.

The event will be aired from seven in the evening GMT.

Michelle Agyemang

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Only 90 days after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to winning the Euros.

She came off the bench to score key tying goals in both the last eight and last four matches.

Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named Young Player of the Tournament.

Later in the year, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Girl honour for the top young European talent.

She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.

Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.

"To be named a finalist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a privilege," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."

The Darts Prodigy

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler's 2025 began in spectacular fashion as - while still 17 - he became the youngest darts world champion in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.

And he wasn't finished there - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the very first time.

At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, breaking the previous record.

"Being nominated for the honour once more is a big honour," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a proud moment for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."

Davina Perrin

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and burst into the spotlight with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.

Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.

It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.

Perrin finished second in the batting rankings and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.

"I'm incredibly grateful to be nominated for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it motivates more young women to get into cricket."
