Los Angeles witnessed widespread festivities after the Dodgers clinched a nail-biting seven-match World Series title. Supporters worldwide united with Angelenos in celebration, marking the initial time in 25 years that a team has secured back-to-back championships.
Victory Parade Draws Massive Turnout
Los Angeles area celebrations included a procession through the city center on Monday morning, a reserved-seating event at the team's home stadium, and spontaneous parties throughout the city.
Social media videos show thousands of Angelenos flooding city center avenues, many displaying handmade banners and Dodger flags. The team was seen traveling proudly on a double-decker bus through the crowds, raising the Commissioner’s trophy high.
“My focus is already about the third time we’re going to do this,” Shohei Ohtani stated through an interpreter.
The parade route concluded at Dodger Stadium, where the team emerged to the rapper’s “Not Like Us,” with the renowned DJ spinning music and Ice Cube cruising a light blue vintage Cadillac around the stadium’s outfield.
Early Celebrations and Player Reactions
Festivities began well before the procession, with supporters lighting flares in the roads of Downtown Los Angeles on the previous evening.
The World Series MVP, awarded the MVP of the championship, commented plainly about the win.
“Losing is not an option,” he stated. “I adore this team. This city means everything to me.”
Varied Responses and City Unity
However, the team owner received a less warm welcome at the celebration. Video footage from the gathering appear to show him taking the stage to a mix of cheers and jeers, with negative shouts interrupting his speech.
The World Series served as a bright spot in what has been a challenging year for the city. An approximate quarter-million people showed up to the Dodgers’ victory parade last year, and according to team member one athlete, supporters this year demonstrated as much if not more enthusiasm.
“I feel like it’s almost double from last year,” he said. “The supporters are incredible. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
