Former Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
