Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Police state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state initial examinations suggest the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; investigators are currently not aware of any harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for details.
A senior representative stated the vandalism left him stunned and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
